Sustainability

In recent years, Broadgate has successfully cut energy use, increased recycling, saved water, encouraged biodiversity and promoted green travel

  • 11% less like-for-like energy use in the last two years - equivalent to cutting as much carbon as 200 homes produce every year.
  • Zero waste to landfill, with 4,460 tonnes of waste recycled in the last two years - more than the weight of 300 London buses.
  • 17,500 sq ft of green roof space and 70 mature trees - bringing birds, bees and butterflies to the City.
  • 10% less like-for-like water use in the last two years - saving 58 million litres of water and £55,000 on occupiers' water bills.
  • 120,000 litres of rainwater reused each year for cleaning - more than you'll drink in your lifetime.
  • 1,500 cycle spaces.
  • BREEAM Excellent sustainability ratings for all new developments or major refurbishments since 2005.
  • Over the last five years, we have cut landlord-influenced energy use at Broadgate by 34% across all like-for-like buildings, saving occupiers £4 million and reducing carbon emissions by 23,400 tonnes.

The Broadgate team is also actively involved in a range of community projects with local partners, working to implement all our Community Charter commitments. In addition, we are working with our supply chain to recruit people from the local area via our Broadgate Connect project.
