Jennifer Durrant, one of the most significant non figurative painters of her generation, creates mixed media works of monumental scale and impact. Full of rich colour, energy and growth, Durrant's works convey organic forms, musical interludes and snatched conversations.
Having studied at the Brighton College of Art and at the Slade School of Fine Art in London during the 1960's, Durrant was awarded a scholarship to the British School at Rome in 1965. The year after she was a Peter Stuyvesant Prize Winner at the Young Contemporaries exhibition. She went on to teach at various art colleges and her work has been exhibited extensively throughout the UK, Europe and America, including solo exhibitions staged by London's Royal Academy. Durrant was appointed Royal Academician in 1994 and is based in London and Umbria, Italy.
