Broomball is Back

Broomball is returning to Broadgate Ice Rink this year with two tournaments planned for dates in February. If you think you’ve got what it takes to stay upright on the ice whilst batting a ball with a broom in the right direction, get a team together and get in touch.

Broomball is a fast, furious, highly energetic and fun sport from Canada – think ice hockey without the skates. Mixed teams of up to eight players (with five on the ice at one time including a goalie; at least two players on the ice must be female) battle it out in ten minute matches, trying to score more goals than the opposition.

Teams are kitted out with knee and elbow pads, a crash helmet and a ‘broom’ – all you need to bring with you is warm clothes, a pair of trainers and extra clothes to change into after.

If you would like to get involved, please contact us at to find out how to enter your team.

The next Broomball tournament is scheduled for:
- Tuesday 25 February 2014 6.30-10pm

Private hire is also available for games and mini-leagues.

If competing is not for you, come along and spectate at BAR BBQ on Ice. The heated terrace is the perfect spot to watch the match and the staff will make sure you have enough BAR BBQ food, craft beers and cocktails to keep you going throughout the competition.

Broadgate Ice Rink is open for skating and lessons until 27 February 10am-10pm (last session starts at 9pm). Share your skating and Broomball pictures with us on Twitter and Facebook.
