English Tourism Week

English Tourism Week is an annual festival that showcases the best of what the UK has to offer – for free.

This year, it takes on the delicious theme of food and drink. So in addition to our Savour Broadgate events, enjoy this opportunity for you to see, hear, and sample something very different from 14 to 22 March.

A packed programme of free walks, talks and tours has been planned for you to discover the City’s rich heritage and culture. See the foodie highlights below and find the full programme on the Visit the City website.

Guildhall Chronicles

Listen to a tasteful collection of food and drink speakers in Guildhall Library to find out more about the City's heritage.

Monday 16 March 1pm – Gin in the City incl. tastings
Tuesday 17 March 1pm – Dr Johnson and his love of tea
Thursday 19 March 1pm – Beer in the City incl. tastings
Friday 20 March 1pm – Quirky cooking through the ages

Mrs Beeton Exhibition

150 years after her death, Mrs Beeton is still one of the most important figures in food history. From her beginnings in the City to the publication of her Book of Household Management, the new exhibition at Guildhall Library examines her impact on the world of 19th-century celebrity cooks, and her influence in the cooking world to this day.

The Mrs Beeton exhibition is on at Guildhall Library, Aldermanbury, EC2V 7HH, till 17 April.

City Lunchtime Walks

Join a City of London Guide on a tour of some of the food and drink hotspots of the City, including the Royal Exchange, Leadenhall Market, St Michael's Alley and the Jamaica Wine House.

Guildhall Tours

The Gothic Guildhall, built around 1411, is an impressive backdrop for the many glittering banquets in honour of visiting Heads of State and other dignitaries, royal occasions, and receptions for historical anniversaries. Join a City of London Guide on a tour of the building to hear about its role as a centre of food and drink.
