Love art? Visit Broadgate As part of Open House weekend 2012

Broadgate is calling all art lovers to the square mile! As part of Open House weekend, Broadgate launched an art tour with a difference — smartphone users can use QR codes to learn more about the artists and inspiration behind the stunning sculptures in Broadgate’s public art collection.

Famous works include the reclining figure of Broadgate Venus, overlooking Liverpool Street Station, the grouping of six figures known as Rush Hour by George Segal and the imposing steel towers of the Fulcrum. Londonist readers with an eye for art may remember the latter two which appeared in Londonist’s Top 10 Modern Sculptures while the Fulcrum also made an appearance in their Top 10 Massive Bits Of Art.

If the City is outside of your usual stamping ground, this weekend is the perfect opportunity to visit and enjoy some art with added architecture.

The QR codes will remain in place permanently, allowing art aficionados to explore Broadgate whenever they fancy a culture fix. For those without a smart phone, art tour details are online here. Leaflets are also available from the Broadgate Welcome Centre, on Finsbury Avenue Square, open every weekday.
