This year Wrap Up London hopes to collect over 20,000 coats in its annual collection to help the City’s most vulnerable this winter. Donate your unwanted coats at Broadgate from 11-13th November.
Returning for its fifth year, the coat collection campaign, which is supported by Broadgate occupier William Blair, has grown from collecting 2,500 coats in 2011 to over 14,700 coats last year. This winter the charity, Hands On London, hope to collect, sort and distribute over 20,000 coats directly to those most likely to struggle to keep warm during the winter months via homeless shelters, refugee centres, women’s refuges and other charities.
Coat collections are run entirely by a team of volunteers who will be based at The Fulcrum near Broadgate Circle and at the following London Underground stations: Kings Cross, Victoria, Charing Cross, London Bridge, Liverpool Street, Canary Wharf, Highbury & Islington and Euston.
Your unwanted coat can not only help keep a person warm, it can save their life. So donate your clean, lightly worn coats (no fur please) to the Hands On London volunteers at The Fulcrum near Broadgate Circle from Wednesday 11th to Friday 13th November between 7-11am. This year there is an extra special plea for mens coats which are traditionally in higher demand.
Help spread the word by using #GiveALifeJacket on social media.
Don’t have a coat?
As a small charity, Hands On London also welcome ‘virtual coats’ through text donations to help with the financial costs of running the Wrap Up London campaign. It costs as little as £3 to collect and distribute a warm coat to someone that needs it. Text HLDN14 followed by your donation amount (£1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10) to 70070.
