Things to do in London Christmas 2019: from twinkling lights to festive films

There’s a frost in the air in London and the nights are getting darker which means the festive season is nearly upon us.

Whether you want to see some twinkling fairy lights, meet Santa, sort a Christmas lunch for friends or work colleagues, take part in fun pub quizzes, book a trip to Frozen 2 or hear live Christmas music and carols, here’s our round-up of the best events happening at The Winter Forest in Broadgate Circle right next to Liverpool Street Station.

This year, we’re supporting mental health charity, Mind in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest, so any tickets you buy for workshops and events will help to raise funds for their vital work.

1. Meet Santa Claus in London

In the heart of Broadgate Circle, The Winter Forest is a festive pop-up of snow-covered pine trees and twinkling fairy lights – the perfect spot to meet Father Christmas himself for free (with no booking). Helped out by some clever elves, you’ll be able to meet him on 12-3pm, Tuesday 10th December and 6-9pm, Thursday 19th December.

Our tip: stay nice (not naughty) and also book tickets for Frozen 2 at the Everyman Broadgate to boot (see below).

2. Plan a proper festive drinks tasting

Fancy doing something a bit different with friends or office mates this year? Mrs Fogg’s Dockside Drinkery & Distillery are hosting a series of gin masterclasses (click here to book a spot) while The Fever-Tree Winter Lodge is running a series of masterclasses featuring The Botanist, Portobello Road and Seedlip (click here to book your spot). Chin chin indeed!

3. Book a Christmas film

If you haven’t discovered the joy of Everyman Broadgate, now’s the time to sip cocktails in the bar, order pizzas, enjoy sharing plates and Spielburgers and watch Christmas spirit-inducing classics (Frozen 2 or Love Actually, anyone?). Bookings for the week ahead arrive on Monday nights so keep an eye out.

4. Join a festive pub quiz

Monday nights we put your knowledge to the test… Come to The Winter Forest from 6.30pm from now until Christmas (entry is £3 per person with all proceeds going to Mind in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest), order craft beers and delicious wine (plus street food snacks from Franco Manca, The Botanist and more) and get the Christmas vibes flowing.

5. Plan a lunch/brunch/dinner to suit you

Broadgate is famous for its incredible variety of bars and restaurants and is a year-round foodie destination. Whether you want fine dining, relaxed brunches or buzzing welcomes, there’s a whole host of menus and Christmas offers coming between now and the end of the year (including standing menus at Grind Liverpool Street and bespoke packages at We Are Bar).

Click here for our helpful round-up and plan an inspired office party or catch-up with friends on a night that’s perfect for you.

6. Hear carols, Mariah and more

From a traditional choir taking over The Winter Forest on 3rd and 10th December; live music from up and coming talent discovered by Spinnup x Broadgate and Found In London in Broadgate Circle and Finsbury Avenue Square to a Christmas singalong with Tom Carradine at Mrs Fogg’s (honestly, he is unmissable) on Tuesday 17th December, you’ll be feeling instantly in the mood for the season. See the full calendar here.

7.  Take a fun workshop with Grace & Thorn

East London florists Grace & Thorn lead the way in gorgeous creation from flowers and foliage. From 4-5pm on Saturday 30th November, they’ll be taking over The Space | 3FA and showing you how to create your very own festive posies that are also sustainable and eco-friendly. Tickets are £15 with all proceeds going to Mind in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest and you’ll also be taking home your creation. Click here to book your spot.

Plus, if you work in and around Broadgate we’re also hosting a series of free self-care workshops in conjunction with Mind in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest.

This Christmas, Broadgate is supporting mental health charity, Mind in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest. From providing advice and empowering anyone with a mental health problem to running local drop-in centres, crisis helplines and supporting education, employment and housing, Mind’s work is vital.
