Virtual Pride 2020

Pride may be Staying In for 2020, but that won’t stop our Broadgate communities coming together (at a distance) to celebrate all things LGBTQ+, whilst continuing to raise awareness and fight for equality and diversity within the workplace and at home.

Below you will find an array of activities and events from our community partners, retailers and networks that you can get involved with during Pride.

We are proud to work with Just Like Us throughout the year, so keep an eye on our What’s On page and sign up for regular updates on future events.

Just Like Us: Proud at Home

Growing up LGBTQ+ is still unacceptably tough, which is why British Land and Broadgate are honoured to work with Just Like Us, an LGBTQ+ charity whose mission is to empower young people to be role models championing LGBTQ+ equality at school and work.

With many LGBTQ+ young people facing further isolation from their friends due to the ongoing lockdown and school closures, Just Like Us has launched Proud at Home, a series of online events and activities.

We are also sponsoring School Diversity Week which takes place from 22nd to 26th June, and have donated a wonderful selection of LGBTQ+ positive children’s books to local families.

LGBTQ+ Role Model and Ally Training

Outvertising is a not-for-profit LGBTQ+ advertising and marketing advocacy group who strive for equality and promote more positive LGBTQ+ representation in advertising. They have designed an interactive training session to help you become a better role model and to empower you to teach others to do the same. The session will take place at 4.30pm on Wednesday 1 July.

Missed it? Don't worry, they have plenty more coming up, find out more here.

Queer Frontiers 2020

Founded in 2009, ARTIQ’s mission is to ensure fair pay for artists and to bridge the divide between the art and business worlds. Through intelligent art curation, ARTIQ enables businesses to use the power of art to improve wellbeing, communicate brand and enhance guest experience. ARTIQ is engaged in a variety of public initiatives from public art installations to charity art auctions and the annual Graduate Art Prize.

The Queer Frontiers 2020 collection incorporates an impressive variety of styles, media, subjects and techniques and features the work by some of the best up and coming young artists. Find the full exhibition at queerfrontiers.co.uk/shop and head to Artuk.org for more insights on the featured artists and their work.

This year, their highly anticipated summer show will take place online and will feature an incredible selection of works by international queer artists and allies exploring issues around gender and sexuality. This will be a unique opportunity to purchase original paintings and prints with profits going to the participating artists and East London-based charity Renaissance Foundation.

Get Moving

The British Land Alliance and our community partners have also been set the challenge to collectively walk, cycle, run, dance or crawl (for our mini teammates) 1,972km in July to raise funds for Just Like Us. This is to mark the year 1972, the Stonewall Riots and the origin of the LGBTQ+ Pride marches.

If you would like to make a donation you can do so here.

Proud at Work

The 22-26 June marks the first ever Virtual Work Pride Week hosted by myGwork, a global networking hub and jobs board for LGBTQ+ professionals, graduates, inclusive employers and anyone who believes in workplace equality.

All events are free to attend, and the programme includes panel discussions on diversity and training sessions.

Support for the LGBTQ+ Community

Coronavirus is impacting everyone, placing strain on our physical and mental wellbeing, but the LGBTQ+ community is facing additional barriers. With this in mind, we wanted to share a list of LGBTQ+ resources and supportive ideas which we encourage you to use and share with your LGBTQ+ friends, family and colleagues.
