Book now for a Chinese New Year fusion of exceptional food, innovative art and well-loved tradition.
In celebration of the Year Of The Dog, Yauatcha City at Broadgate Circle will be festooned in paper lanterns by the acclaimed artist, Lydia Kasumi Shirreff while presenting a special menu filled Chilean sea bass rolls and delicate macarons.
Until Sunday 4 March, “Queen of paper sculpture” Kasumi Shirreff is paying homage to the traditional art form of ‘kirigami’ paper cutting in a unique installation. Comprising of 48 hand-cut paper lanterns of brushed gold and red card, her installation draws inspiration from modernist architecture with geometric 3D effects.
Chinese New Year menu
The menu will offer two dim sum dishes; salted egg yolk custard sesame ball (representing togetherness) and Chilean sea bass roll (symbolising financial prosperity).
Main dishes will include golden fortune prawn in lime sauce (for seafood has connotations of good luck) and braised pork shank with lotus seed and mushroom. In a nod to the art, guests will enjoy the Haoyun Lantern petit gâteau dessert with soy caramel and mandarin (eating citrus is believed to bring luck whilst ‘haoyun’ translates as ‘lucky’).
A number of limited edition macarons will also be available, in flavours including vanilla orchid, a lucky flower for 2018, and raspberry Szechuan, vibrant red in colour to reflect Chinese New Year celebrations.
