On Thursday 20 September, come and join Team GB sprinter Adam Gemili, England rugby player Danny Care, cyclist-turned-jockey Victoria Pendleton and top jockey Oisin Murphy, as they attempt to Race The Ultimate Champion by taking on the world’s best racehorses over a 100-metre sprint ahead of QIPCO British Champions Day, the finale to the flat racing season.
Set in Exchange Square, members of the public are encouraged to come and have a go at the 10-metre sprint too for their chance to win an exclusive hospitality package to the QIPCO British Champions Day at Ascot Racecourse on Saturday 20 October.
Of course, beating a racehorse over the course of a race would be impossible, but everyone has a chance over 10 metres. Those up for the challenge won’t actually be racing a horse but will run along a specially-designed track which features timers and lights along the back wall, set to the speed of a Champions’ Day horse breaking from the starting stalls.
Based on each person’s speed over the 10 metres, we’ll be able to match them to one of the horses running on QIPCO British Champions’ Day – are you a sprinter or more of a long-distance horse? For more information or for tickets to QIPCO British Champions’ Day go to britishchampionsday.com
