2020: What are the best fitness classes for me?

Want to make yourself fitter, happier and calmer in the New Year? We’ve put together some of the best health and fitness classes and ways to get moving in London so that you start off 2020 feeling and looking great.

“I want to get fit fast (and really like some loud music vibes) – where should I go?”

The best thing about 1Rebel is no contract is required (and it’s also on ClassPass) and they’re irresistibly fun with classes first thing in the morning or post-work (and also weekends). 

With a high intensity, dual studio fitness concept against a backdrop of curated music, you can choose between Reshape (high-powered treadmill sessions, dynamic weight sequences and a whole lot of endorphins that will challenge, inspire and burn fat) and Rumble (“speed, footwork, strength but most of all willpower. 45 minutes of sound and energy, it’s a boxing battle between you and your bag.”)

“I need a good all-round gym that’s also easy to get to (plus I’d like to try a gym out for free)?”

With a cardio theatre, spin studio, sauna and gym floor and classes including spin, circuit, SHRED, tone, Zumba, Pilates, yoga and Body Combat, Fitness First at Broadgate Circle is an excellent place to start planning your 2020 workout. 

With instructors available to help you get settled in and a free three-day pass for newbies, it’s a great way to start 2020 as you mean to go on. They also accept ClassPass if you want to get some tester classes in before signing up.  

“Where can I find a bespoke fitness plan that I’ll actually stick to?”
The Sessions at The Space | 3FA

Starting from Thursday 16th January, Fitworks are bringing their tailored plan to Broadgate. With a body fat analysis (at the first and final classes) and a mobile app alongside a carefully planned series of workouts to get your movement and power levels pumping, this is exactly what you need to get yourself motivated and moving well into the spring.  

The cost is £60 for six sessions or £10 per class – if you do individual classes you do receive the body scale measurements at the start and end. Book your spot here.

“I want to do some yoga and destress my mind…?”

From Tuesday 14th January, tam-tamyoga.com are hosting a series of playful and thoughtful classes designed to leave you feeling strong, connected and embodied. Ideal for those with busy jobs, the classes are about flowing moves and breathwork. 

Free to occupiers at Broadgate, simply reserve your spot (watch this space) and join the classes on Wednesday lunchtimes in January and Tuesday lunchtimes in February. 

“I want to sign up to a gym but also do some swimming?”
Virgin Active, One Exchange Place

Yes, believe it or not – right in the heart of Liverpool Street is a welcoming 25m pool tucked away in Virgin Active. There are also cycle studios, a gym floor (with treadmills, woodway curves, wattbikes and Total Body Resistance Exercise), a relax space and a spa (come on, you can’t be all workouts and no play). 

Virgin Active are pretty good at doing excellent deals or sign up for £135 a month for access to its varied and up-to-the-minute workout tech.
