The days are getting longer, the sun is getting warmer and the first shoots of spring are beginning to show. Here are 8 mind, body and soul-boosting ways to make the most of the new season - inspired by our Urban Eden season.
1. Celebrate The House Of Holi
To mark India’s festival of colours, Cinnamon Kitchen are holding a party in Devonshire Square from 7th March. The 12-day event invites city workers to swap their ties and heels for protective suits before pelting each other with paint. They’ll also be serving up a vibrant five-course Holi menu (£38 pp) and colourful cocktails from their pop-up bar.
2. Escape on two wheels
In need of an adventure? Then be inspired by legendary cycling company Rapha who are holding a talk on 9th March about seeing unlikely parts of the world from the comfort of your bike.
3. Embrace spring’s biggest art shows
From David Hockney at Tate Britain to The British Museum’s American Dream show, some of the world’s most vibrant exhibitions are in London right now. And - as part of our wellbeing and greenness campaign - Broadgate is playing host to three free exhibitions that explore our relationship with the city, nature and beyond.
4. Enjoy a seasonal cocktail (or two)
Shoryu Ramen are shaking up (sorry) their cocktail menu for spring with four new mixes. As they put it: “Our Kaoru Lavender is jam-packed with fresh botanicals shaken up with Elderflower St. Germain, Josen Sake and Jinzu Gin in a Soho julep glass. You call it a cocktail; we call it a brisk spring walk through a wild meadow.”
5. Makeover your desk
Want to be 15% more productive at work? Then pick up one of our free desk plants on Tuesday 21 March as part of World Planting Day. With lavender, spider plants and aloe vera available for their calming, air-cleaning and soothing properties respectively, make your workspace a whole new haven.
6. Put a literal spring in your step
How you ask? By abseiling down the Broadgate Tower for charity. With a host of good causes, sign up to an abseil here and see London from a whole new perspective while doing something amazing.
7. Discover your next music obsession
Busk at Broadgate is back in March. Hear some of the UK’s most talented emerging music talent before anyone else and revel in some excellent tunes.
8. Finally, pepper your day with feelgood food
Smoothies, lattes, energy balls and tasty pots of goodness: 2017 is all about nourishing food that tastes great and boosts your body and mind.
Start the day off happy with one of Street Kitchen’s breakfast pots from the Airstream - their version of shakshuka (poached eggs, smoky tomato compote, spinach and rosemary salt) is unmissable.
PRESS London also have a brilliant beetroot latte for early starts and delicious apple pie-flavoured energy balls from small.palms for sugar-free mid-afternoon slumps.
Meanwhile, Pod are embracing colour with shawarmas stuffed with tabbouleh, muhammara, mint and sultanas and topped with chicken, meatballs or falafel; Korean bibinbap (hot rice, veg, pickle and egg topped with chicken, pulled pork or avocado) and Hot Pods with brand new Spanish chicken fabada and Persian lamb meatballs.
