Broadgate Ice FAQs

The Broadgate ice rink closed for the last time in winter 2017. This year, Broadgate plays host to The Winter Forest with 300 snow-covered pine trees, live music, twinkling lights, food, drink, craft classes and even visits from Santa himself. Click here to find out more. 

How do I get to Broadgate Ice Rink?

Exchange Square is just a two-minute walk from Liverpool Street Station. Leave the station’s main exit (Bishopsgate West) and turn left to walk along Bishopsgate. Turn left again at Primrose Street. Turn left up the steps leading to Exchange House and Broadgate Ice Rink is directly ahead.

Visiting during the week? You can reach the ice rink easily via the Broadgate Link onto Sun Street Passage from Liverpool Street Station.

There are four exits from Liverpool Street Station - but don’t worry - just look out for the signs to the ice rink.

Please visit the TFL website for travel information to and from Liverpool Street Station using the Central line, Hammersmith & City, Circle, Metropolitan Lines or local buses. Moorgate (Northern Line) and Shoreditch High Street (Overground) are also nearby.

Parking for buses and coaches is not offered at Broadgate. Vehicles will be required to leave promptly after drop off.

When should I arrive at the ice rink?

Please make sure you arrive 30 minutes before your skating session is due to start to change into your skates and store your belongings.

Is skate hire included?

Yes, skate hire is included in the ticket price.

Can I bring my own skates?

Visitors are welcome to bring their own skates but please note, speed skates are not permitted.

What ice skate sizes are available for hire?

We try very hard to cater for everyone and the ice skate sizes range from a UK junior size 8 (EU 25) to adult 15 (EU 52).

How long are the ice skating sessions?

Each skating session runs for one hour. The ice rink is open Monday to Sunday and skating begins at 10am every day. The last session of the day will be 9-10pm.

Where can I leave my bag and coat?

There are non-refundable lockers available for £1.00 per session. Please do not bring large baggage or valuable items to Broadgate Ice Rink if they will not fit into a locker. Lockers are 35cm by 30cm by 45cm. All items left in the cloakroom are done so at the owner's risk. The lockers will be emptied at the end of every day.

Where can I collect lost property?

Please contact the ice rink manager on-site for all lost property enquiries, email or call 0845 653 1424 (Calls cost 5.8333 pence per minute, plus your phone company's access charge).

What should I wear?

Please make sure that your clothing is suitable for your time on the ice as well as the weather. We advise that you bring thick socks with you and have a warm jacket, gloves and hats ready for the action on the ice.

What can I do if I don’t want to skate?

Perfectly located to watch all the action on the ice, our rinkside street food and bar area will be serving winter warmers from the popular street food market, Urban Food Fest, and wine, beer and hot drinks courtesy of Davy's On Ice Wine Bar. Broadgate is also home to a great selection of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants and an extensive on-street art collection, feel free to explore Broadgate at your leisure.  

What happens if it rains or snows?

Broadgate Ice Rink is able to operate in almost all weather conditions. Skating will continue in the rain so please check the weather forecast and dress appropriately. In heavy downpours and shortly afterwards the rink surface will be wet. Please wear waterproof clothing and consider bringing a change of clothes.

If the Duty Manager deems the weather conditions unfit for skating and your session is cancelled, a new agreeable session will be allocated. 

Updates on the weather and condition for skating will be made via our Twitter and Facebook pages, so please check these if you are unsure. Alternatively, you can call the Ice Rink to check.

If the weather is deemed too severe (snow or strong winds), the rinkside area will be closed. These updates will be made via social media also.

Can I skate on Christmas Day?

We will not be open on Christmas Day, but Boxing Day will be open from 11am-6pm.

Are wheelchair users allowed onto the ice rink?

Yes, the ice rink and restaurant is fully accessible to all. Admission to the ice rink is free for carers accompanying wheelchair users on the rink. Please speak to the box office on 0845 653 1424 for more information (Calls cost 5.8333 pence per minute, plus your phone company's access charge).

Are there toilets at the ice rink?

Yes, toilets located close to the ice rink under 175 Bishopsgate. Please note that you will need to change back into your shoes to enter the facilities.

Is WiFi available?

Yes, free WiFi at Broadgate is provided by The Cloud so tell all your friends where you are and share your pictures with us on Twitter and Facebook.

Family and Children's Information

Can my children skate?

Ice skating is fun for all of the family and the ice rink is suitable for children aged four and over. We do request that children 13 and under are accompanied by an adult skater aged 16 years and over. Family tickets are available.

Are skate aids available?

Penguin skate aids and seal ride-on skate aids are on hand to provide assistance to children struggling to find their feet on the ice. They will be available for hire for £5 per hour and will be waddling out onto the ice on a first come first served basis.

Are there ice skates to fit children?

Yes, ice skates start from size 8 (25EU). For very little feet we have a number of double bladed skates.

How many children can I bring? 

We advise the following ratios for schools, community and family groups: - 1 parent/member of staff to every 3 children aged 7 or under - 1 parent/member of staff to every 5 children aged 8 or over- 1 parent/member of staff to every 2 children with moderate learning difficulties or moderate behavioural problems - 1 to 1 supervision is expected for children with severe learning difficulties or severe behavioural problems, where deemed necessary- 1 to 1 supervision is expected for persons with any disability, where deemed necessary.

How do I buy tickets?

You can book tickets online now and at the ice rink box office in Exchange Square Broadgate (open daily 10am-9.30pm) or by phone from 16 November on 0845 653 1424 (lines open daily 10am-9.30pm. Calls cost 5.8333 pence per minute, plus your phone company's access charge).

Tickets booked by phone will be held at the box office for collection. Group bookings should be booked either at the box office or over the phone. Advance bookings are advisable to avoid disappointment.

What is included in the ticket price?

Ticket prices include a one-hour skating session and skate hire. Please arrive 30 minutes before your session to change into your skates and store your belongings.

Family: £36.50 (2 adults + 2 children or 1 adult + 3 children)
Concession: £11.00**
Season ticket: £180 adult; £95 children***
Group discount: Buy 10 adult tickets, get the 11th for free*
Children under 12 must be accompanied on the ice by an adult aged 16 and over**
NUS and 60+. Please bring your ID to your skating session***
Season tickets can be purchased at the box office from 16 November 2016.

Can I get a refund or transfer my booked session time?

We do not offer refunds or transfers on any purchased tickets unless the Broadgate Ice Rink duty manager deems the weather conditions unfit for skating and your ice rink session is cancelled. In this instance you will be able to reorganise your session for a later date (depending on availability).

Can I pay at the bar and box office via credit/debit card?

Yes, we take all major cards.

If I purchase my ticket online, how do I receive it?

If you purchase your ticket online you will have the choice of printing your ticket at home or you can download it to your smart phone. Please note, there is a £2.00 charge at the box office if you turn up on the day of skating without a valid print out or e-ticket.
